Solar power FAQs

How does Solar Power work?

Solar power technologies provide electrical generation by means of heat engines or photovoltaics. Active Solar Power techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels, solar thermal collectors, with electrical or mechanical equipment, to convert sunlight into useful outputs. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

What is a Green Home?

Green homes incorporate smart design, technology, construction and maintenance elements to significantly lessen the negative impact of the home on the environment and improve the health of the people who live inside. A green home uses less energy, water and natural resources, creates less waste and is healthier for the people living inside compared to a standard home.

What is Eco-Living?

Eco-Living is the practice of living as sustainably and self-sufficiently as possible. At the individual level, eco-living means that we become as self-sufficient as possible in terms of the necessities: food and energy dependency. At the community level, Eco Living entails reverting back to a more traditional way of life which includes weaning ourselves from our complete dependence on sources far removed for everything we need for survival and economic activity.
